Swan Hill, Victoria, Australia

When explorer Thomas Mitchell camped on the banks of the Murray River, he named the spot Swan Hill because the local black swans had kept him awake all night. The township became a busy 19th century river port and today it is a pleasant city and major holiday center on the Murray River, 340 km north of Melbourne (Victoria's Capital city).
